Agent-Based Model - JASSS Download Page
This page provides links to download the model described in Millington et al (2008) An Agent-Based Model of Mediterranean Agricultural Land-Use/Cover Change for examining Wildfire Risk published in the Journal of Artificial Societies and Social Simulation (JASSS). The model was initially developed in the agent-based modelling environment NetLogo, and later re-coded in C++. You can download both implementations of the model below, or experiment with the NetLogo model online via a Java applet.

NetLogo Implementation
You can experiment with a Java applet demonstration version of the model developed using 'NetLogo' by clicking here. Depending upon you connection it may take a minute or two to load. You will need Java installed on your computer. More details on the construction of the NetLogo model can be found on the NetLogo Model Details Page. The model runs quite slowly - movies (.exe files) of previous model runs can also be downloaded from the NetLogo Model Details Page, along with the underlying NetLogo code itself.

C++ Implementation A .zip file containing the files required to run the C++ implementation of the model can be downloaded here (right click and 'save as', or equivalent). Unzip the file to a local directory. Double click Integrated_LUCC_Humans_Fire_Model.exe and enter "ModelParameters.bat" (without quotes) at the prompt. To change market scenarios go to the line starting "market_scenarios_file:" in ModelParameters.txt and change the subsequent text to match another 'markets' file in the .zip that you downloaded (or another file that you create yourself which is formatted in the same way). Other model parameters can also be changed in the file ModelParameters.txt. To run a batch of several model runs, open batchfile.bat in a text editor, increase the number of runs the number desired, and provided file names for this number of model parameter files (preceded by "ParameterFileX:" without the quotes where X is the number of the model replicate).
